Returning Roadmap to Success teacher Candice Jones teachers 11th and 12th grade credit recovery at Fort Worth Can Academy- Lancaster Avenue. Ms. Jones was nominated to be one of our first teacher spotlights for the 2018-2019 school year by Impact Manager Summerlin Northrup and former Impact Manager (now Data Manager) Celestino Carreón.
Candice Jones has been a strong supporter of Roadmap to Success at the Texans Can Academies since our pilot launch in October of 2016. During visits to Fort Worth, I witnessed Ms. Jones engaging her students in thoughtful discussion, challenging them to think deeply about the content. This past year, she co-taught our program with another teacher, fostering collaboration between two classrooms. -Cel

Alma Mater: Trimble Tech High School
What is your favorite college memory?
Living in the dorm, meeting new and interesting people and learning.

No, I did not. I started subbing for FWISD (Fort Worth Independent School District) and noticed how much I enjoyed it so I decided to stay and apply for a permanent position.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
My plan is to work with students on a one on one level with transitioning from high school to adulthood.
Why do you think it’s important for students to have access to college and career readiness programs? How do you feel like the Roadmap to Success program has impacted your students?
At this point in life they are ready to graduate and find their path in life. In order for them to do that they must have the resources and know how to connect the dots. Roadmap is the tool to help them connect the dots and find their path.
